Layout Challenge Week #18

More Zippidee!  Make sure you read the title on the right correctly, that is Shrimp and Gri-its said with and exaggerated drawl!

My niece at our wedding rehearsal dinner did not like shrimp and my in-laws were not compassionate and she had a fort built around herself and was being attacked by the shrimp and crawfish being served at our dinner!  So when my son was playing with his shrimp and grits, we had to take pictures and post them on Facebook for my niece!

Vacation album done!

We took a well deserved break from the drive and played in the water at Balmorhea Springs!  The water was cool but it was hot and sunny out of the water!
This paper is exclusive to Studio J paper called Splash Zone and is great for water pictures!  I love the colors too!

The title says it all!  The drive from New Mexico to home in one day was brutal!

To try Studio J for free go here!

Layout Challenge Week #17

Daddy's birthday!  Opening presents!

I found this layout in a Becky Fleck book, I think!  It worked great for my picture because I didn't want to crop much on some!  I used the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge to cut the tag and the Red ribbon assortment for the tie on the tag!  I am finally making a dent in my retired Zippidee paper!  I think I must have combined several paper packs!

What stash are you using?  Show me your layout!

Layout Challenge Week #16

Before the family left after Thanksgiving, we had to get all the kids for a picture!  They were so cute and had played so well together!  We really wish we could get together more often!

I used the retired special Felicity paper for this layout.  I love the precut shape!  I also used the opaque pearls on the points of the shape and the Old World Alphabet for the title!

I would love to see your creations!

Madison's Wedding Studio J style!

My daughter took the pictures on the first 3 pages! She is only 8 and has a really good steady hand!

I used Sonoma for these pages which is still available for purchase.
Madison was our favorite babysitter and had a reception ready for lots of kids!  Joshua got the yellow glasses out of a box of goodies for them!

Did I mention that this wedding was in mid-March and I finished the pages before then end of March and hit the make 2 copies button when ordering so I have a copy for each kids book!

Have you tried Studio J yet?  There is no charge to play! No charge at all until you order completed pages!

Layout Challenge Week #15

Right after Thanksgiving we needed something to keep the kids busy so we got out the Christmas stuff and put up the trees.  The kids really got into decorating this year which was nice but chaotic!  They kept wanting to put the things they had made on Daddy's purple and gold tree so we had to make a tree for the kids!  We had so many ornaments the next year that we needed to get a bigger tree!  We buy the kids an ornament every year so that when they are grown we can hand them a box of ornaments for their own tree!

I didn't want to start with Christmas paper on this layout yet since it wasn't Christmas so I was thinking about what paper to use and the Sonoma paper was still on my table from the wedding gifts I made and it worked really well with some of the colors in the other pages of Christmas tree decorating!  I also used some of the purple sparkles and a part of the Heirloom Assortment (Z1635).  All of these are still lavailable on my website!

Turkey Troubles

I have been trying for over 2 weeks to get this layout done.  I am not thrilled with it but it is done.  I would love suggestions if you have any thoughts!

We were making turkey cookies with the kids and their cousins in the photos.   I found this great turkey paper at a local scrapbook store and had to have it! However I didn't think about the busyness of the paper or how I would use it.  So  I struggled even after I had a layout idea on how to make the pictures stand out from the busy paper.  I wanted to border the picture with turkeys and it worked but I had trouble figuring out how to make them truly look like turkeys.  I then had nowhere to put the journaling to a title, thus the gobble, gobble.  I may have to try hidden journaling because it could use a little explanation!

So the moral of this is, sometimes our best intentions don't work out so great and we have to make the best of it and move on!  The good news is I have one more piece to use in the boys' book so I have a chance to redeem myself!
