Child's Play Challenge

One of the Child's Play Challenges for April was to use Mary Poppins as inspiration!  I immediately thought of these pictures of my kids playing in the rain!  The huge umbrella reminded me of Mary Poppins and when it rained in the Mary Poppins movie and the the chalk drawings disappeared!

My kids were so excited when it started raining the first thing they wanted to do was go out and play in it!  I used the Dotty papers because of the clouds, it seemed so appropriate!
I cut the chevrons from one of the Dotty papers.  The layout is one out of the Make It From Your Heart book and made it work with my pictures!  I found the layout a little blah and didn't really like it and then I got the idea of raindrops!  I used a flower petal from the Art Philosophy Cartridge and distorted it a little and got rain drops!  I used our new glitter paper to make the rain drops!  It was a great finishing touch!

I love a challenge it makes me think outside of my normal and the deadline helps motivate me to get it done!

Viva Fiesta!

This layout has been sitting on my table for about a week waiting for the circle, embellishments and a title. I finally got around to it today!  The paper is the retired Boom-di-ada, which I loved!  I am down to mostly little scraps now!  I think I will be using them for cards!

I also used some retired buttons and the Just Blooms Paradise Paper Flowers and the Just Blooms Floret Paper Shapes to embellish the layout!

Instead of using the leaves that came with the flowers I made my own using my crimper!
I folded my paper in half and cut leaf shapes.
Then I ran it through the crimper and then unfolded them!  Perfect leaves!  Sometimes I ink them to emphasize the "veins" in the leaves!

As an afterthought I cut some moustaches with the Cricut and the Artiste cartridge. My son and his teacher were both wearing moustaches in the parade!  To explain the moustaches I added some journaling !  I am really happy with the way this page worked out!

This page also works well for two different challenges!

The Southern Girls Challenge that said to use buttons!

The little red wagon's challenge was to use something crimped!

I had a lot of fun finishing this up to participate in these challenges!

Dots and Stripes

The Scrap Your Stash blog has a challenge for April to use dots and stripes and additionally add a butterfly or bee.  Well gee, that didn't seem so hard!

I pulled out the Buzz and Bumble paper and knew I had it made!  However it had no dots, hmmm.  Dotty had lots of dots and the Sunset paper in Buzz and Bumble is the same color as the dots in Dotty!  A match made in heaven!
I looked through Pinterest  for a layout and found this one!
It was on Cheryl Even's blog, Even More Scrapping!  I love her sketches because they almost always have lots of pictures on them!

So I have my dot and stripes, what about bees or butterflies!  Well I happened to have a butterfly picture and bees from the Buzz and Bumble Stickease!

I really enjoyed this challenge!  Hope you enjoyed looking at it!  What was your favorite part!?

ABC Blog Hop -Letter H

Welcome to the Everything ABC's Blog Hop!
For this hop we will be featuring the letter H. This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment. Whatever the crafter has chosen as their H element will be featured in their post.
If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at Amber's blog ~ Scrapper's Therapy
If you came from Shalana then you're on the right track!

My H today is for Happy.  As in Happy Father’s Day but also happy because I have Studio J!  This layout was created in Studio J in just minutes!

I used the exclusive to Studio J paper called Manmade.  I knew I was doing a Father’s day page so I put in the search box for papers the word Father and this paper came up!  Easy Peasy!  Then I searched for a layout with 4 photos and for one called Portrait Collection.  It didn’t quite work for me because one photo was the wrong direction.
Simple to fix, I just rotated the left page and voila, perfection!  I dropped my photos in and did the journaling and was done! Less than 15 minutes and the page was finished!  For me this means 2 pages were finished because I do two books so I just print 2!  Can you believe that they are only $6.50 for a 2 page layout!  No program to buy, over 80 papers to choose from and lots of layouts, oh and embellishments that you can never run out of!

So what is keeping you from giving Studio J a try!?  Try it here!  Need a one on one to get started, leave me a message or send me an email and I will make arrangements to get you started!
