Young Masters!

Tinkering was one of my favorite papers so I bought tons of it and I think I finally gotten it down to almost nothing…guess I will have to use it in Studio J now!  This layout went together quickly and used up stash and stickers!  The stickers emphasized the theme of the page which was creativity and artistic skills!  I used the Make It From Your Heart layout #6 on page 16!

Since I have two books I do I have two layouts with the same pictures!  It is funny how different they turned out!  On the one below I used Dream Pop and a Reflections layout!  I used an Artbooking arrow for journaling and a paper flower in the center for the finishing touch!  I also used a black glitter button to top off the flower!

Family Moments

My kids were being too cute in Costco one day and I snapped this picture!  I don't do one picture layouts often so I frequently seek inspiration from Pinterest which is where I saw this layout!  It was super easy to make!  I cut rectangles and then cut them in half diagonally and then trimmed them a little as needed.  Then dug up some old stickers and used them as the title!  It probably took longer to pick the supplies than it did to make the layout!  I love the kids and the layout!

Cherish

This is one of those layouts that I had horrible pictures for but I couldn't make myself skip this fun event!  My daughters' had a sleep over for their last birthday and one of the girls just was crazy about our new dog, Bongo.  So they decided to have a wedding with her and Bongo!  I even got a picture of the kiss (ICK!)

I used some paper I had been given (the circle paper) as the basis for the color scheme and then went from there.  Since it was about love I found the heart over lay on the Artbooking cartridge and cut it twice for the focal point in the center!
I used a heart word bubble for my journaling and a couple other hearts on the right side for more emphasis on the the love theme and a place for the date!  The title was given to me with the paper and was a rub on with a few choice love words that I placed around the title.

Part of what I want to emphasize here is the the overlay was from a mini album page and rather than cutting it at the size suggested I cut it at 11 inches so it would be proportioned right for a 12x12 page.  Just because some shape or title is on a mini album page doesn't mean you can't use it on a full page and vice versa!

ABC Blog Hop - Letter D

Welcome to the Everything ABC's Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter D.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever  the crafter has chosen as their D element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, you are at the beginning!

For my letter D, I chose Display Tray!  I have had this sitting around waiting for me to make it and I never seemed to get to it!  When we got the new Picture my Life product, I wondered if the small cards would fit in the rectangles in the tray!  I pulled them out and voila, a perfect fit!
I used our family pictures from a year ago and printed them in wallet size and one 4x6.  The Skylark Picture My Life went really well with the pictures so I just sorted through the cards until I found ones in a variety of colors that I liked and played with the layout until I found my favorite.
The Color-Ready Garden Wooden Shapes were on the while supplies last last on my website and seem to be perfect for this project! To color up the shapes I used Hooray Bouquet and The Best Things stamp sets, along with Lagoon, Sweet Leaf, Topiary, Creme Brûlée, Desert Sand and Buttercup inks. Some of the shapes I only stamped once like the flower but the butterfly I stamped with two different colors!  For the branch I used a sponge to put Sweet Leaf on the leaves and then pulled out my blending pen and added lines to the leaves with Topiary and the Desert Sand to the branch part!  The fun thing is I still have lots of Wooden Garden Shapes to play with!
I used Lagoon cardstock and our new Corner Rounder to put behind the pictures to make them pop! and a tiny bit of Sweet Leaf cardstock for the leaves with the flower from the Skylark Assortment!

I hope you enjoyed my project!  It was really fast and fun once I got started!  Come back to see what other non-traditional ways I use the rest of the Skylark Picture My Life cards!

I am going to be doing this as a class on April 3 at 10 am and 6:45 pm so stay tuned for details coming soon!

I also entered this in the 4 Crafty Chicks challenge to use something with wings! The little red wagon also had a challenge to do anything but a card but with paper.

Skylanders vs Star Wars

My boys are twins and are very different!  This past year they couldn't agree on a theme for their birthday party so they each had their own cake and theme!  Skylanders vs. Star Wars!  I figure most people only want so see one picture of the cake and the kids with the cake but I couldn't pick so...
I used Flip Flaps to include all the pictures I wanted without having a cluttered page!
The 4x6 Flip Flaps come in a package of 15 for $3.95.  The pictures just slide in and the Flip Flaps are self adhesive.  When I say they are self adhesive, I mean it! Once these are down they do not easily come off!  In this case I did not stack several but you can!  I make my page and slide it in the page protector and then just adhere the Flip Flap to the outside of the page protector!  The other thing i love about these is that they are thick and sturdy just like our page protectors so they will survive all 4 of my kids flipping them for years to come!

Here are some more examples of Flip Flaps and their fun uses!

Be Yourself

I had this layout put together and it needed a title.  I had used the retired Dream Pop papers and a huge tag I had laying around and matted with some retired Holiday Red.  I din't have any red with me so I used Slate and cut the be yourself title on my Cricut with the Artbooking Cartridge.  I wasn't sure where I was putting it so I got it a little too long,  so I trimmed both ends!  Hmm, these look like chevrons and it is still a little too long.  I ended up using the leftover chevrons form my trimming to make the chevron arrows pointing at each of my boys!  I even dug in my trash can to find the first big chunk I cut off!  In the end I love the way this came out and using those miscut pieces and leftover tag was just a fun bonus!

Want to see what else you can create with the Artbooking Cartridge?  or Dream Pop

Hybrid Layout

So my first question when I say this term was, "What is that?"  I was not a digital scrapper and didn't think I ever would be.  I am still not what I would call a digital scrapper.  I use Studio J which is digital scrapping but it is not my main way of scrapping, I still love the paper process!  However because I take a ridiculous amount of pictures I do some with Studio J, especially things that all my kids are at…because I can just print 2 copies for each book I do!
So back to the original question, Hybrid layouts are digital layouts with some elements that are traditional to paper scrapbooking added.  Above is the original JPG of my layout.  Below I have added Baker's Twine, sparkle brads(retired) and Sparkles!

Unfortunately it is really hard to catch sparkle on pages!  I used the Baker's Twine to look like the ornaments were on a string and attached  it by wrapping it around the Sparkle Brads, one of my bargains from While Supplies Last at a $1 a piece for a package of 24 brads in varied sizes and colors!

I added some Sparkles on the tops of the trees and on the ornaments themselves!!

I hope you enjoyed my experiment with a hybrid layout!  I had a lot of fun playing and was happy with how it came out!

Skylark

Skylark may be one of my new favorites!  It is elegant and has great colors and lends itself to girl and boy layouts!  I really had fun playing with this one!

I love how simple this card below is and yet has a lot of impact!  I used a piece of the patterned paper at the to and stamped the sentiment on it ( Love Life stamp set) and used the Corner Rounder to soften the edges.  The bottom border is punched with the Scalloped Edge Punch and the bling is the new Black and Grey Epoxy Bubbles.
I used the A Tree stamp set for the card below and colored it using the blending pen and Sweet Leaf and Lagoon ink pads with a little touch of Buttercup in there too!  I inked the little butterfly stamp with Lagoon for one and the second down by the tree I inked in Buttercup and the rock and rolled in Lagoon for a different look!  I also used a few Sparkles trailing after the Lagoon butterfly!

More Skylark projects are coming soon!!  Be watching!  I have a Display Tray started using Skylark and the Skylark Picture My Life cards

Lollydoodle

Lollydoodle is bright, colorful and fun!

On the card below I used the Artbooking cartridge and cut the be yourself and the circle border! Under the border and title I used our new Teal Shimmer Trim.  I love that all our Shimmer Trim is sparkly and makes no glitter mess and is self adhesive!!  This was a fast and easy card!

I used the A Little Gift and Joyful Birthday on this card!  I stamped the gift on the Pear patterned paper and cut it out and then stamped the sentiment with Hollyhock!  The fun pink dots are the Flamingo Dots which are several colors of pink and lots of fun in a little package!

Everything ABC Blog - Letter C

Welcome to the Everything ABC's Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter C.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever  the crafter has chosen as their C element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, you are at the beginning!

For letter C, I chose Cricut, Cut, Card and Creative! Oh and I forgot, Cool!
I cut this shirt at 3.5 inches from the Artiste Cricut Cartridge on pg. 75.  It was actually a shirt shaped card and I cut it in half to just have a basically flat shirt on the card instead of a shirt card!  Completely confused?  Me too!  I got the idea from Laurie in Lousiana on her blog.

All the paper is the new Timberline paper pack that became available on February 1!  The stamp set is is Born to Ride and I used Goldrush cardstock to accent the Goldrush in the plaid!  The sentiment is stamped with both Goldrush and Ponderosa Pine pigment inks, though you can't really see the Goldrush in the picture well!

Below is the second card I made with theTimberline papers, Artbooking Cricut Cartridge and the LOL stamp set that is all about social media!  The heart and heart border are both from the Artbooking Cartridge on page 58.

Hey just an interesting side note!  There is an entire section of stamps that are not expected to retire because they coordinate with the Cricut Cartridges we exclusively sell!  Check them out here!  Many of them are not in your Idea Book!

I have to show you the LOL stamp set because it is so cute and inexpensive too!
Can you believe it is only $6.95!?

Shop for the product used above by clicking on the product name or going to my website!
