Everything ABC Blog Hop - Letter K for Kilimanjaro Sarfari

Welcome to the Everything ABC's Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter K.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever the crafter has chosen as their K element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, you are at the beginning!

K is for Kilimanjaro as in the Kilimanjaro Safari at Disney World's Animal Kingdom!

Ever since I found this layout on Pinterest I have been wanting to do it!  It was quite the time investment!

I started in the Cricut Craft Room with a triangle from the Art Philosophy Cartridge and stretched to be pie shaped.  then I put a circle on the page the size I wanted and positioned the wedge around it and resized to get 12 around the circle.  Then I cut a wedge and used it as a template to fussy cut out the animals.

The center circle I cut using the Accent Essentials Cartridge and added the title and Blue and Green Epoxy bubbles to make it a focal point of the page!
The giraffes were cut out using the Animal Kingdom Cartridge and I added Opaques (retired) to bling up the eye and nose!
The flower and leaves were cut from the Creative Memories Traveler Cartridge and inked to look more realistic!
I kept the right page simple to not strict from the left page and cut out the hippo and crocodile from the Animal Kingdom cartridge.  I also added Opaques for their eyes and nose and used a white pen to emphasize the crocodile's teeth.  I also inked each animal to show the cuts and details.  The Durable Studs at the top and bottom are retired but we have Triangle and Artisan Durable Studs available now that would be great for the same purpose!
Hope you enjoyed this!  I sure enjoyed making and sharing it!

Going Safari

I found this layout on Pinterest and made my version of it!  It was quick easy and it is so fun!
I used my crimper on the photo mats to give them more texture!
I cut lots of leave with the Art Philosophy Cartridge and inked them to give them a little dimension!  I also used 3-d Tape to pop up the center leaves on the title! The title is cut to look like wood using the Pooh Font Cartridge and then I layered it to make it stand out from the Kraft background paper!  I also added lots of Opaques (retired) on the nail holes giving it more of a wood look!

This was such a fun page to make and it has a lot of impact despite the ease of making it!

Magic Kingdom Rides

It is amazing what papers will work with Disney pictures!  I planned on using mostly Disney papers for our trip and expected to be seriously sick of them by the time I got done!  This layout is made with the retired Bella papers and Kraft paper!  The colors just matched perfectly!
This really turned out to be a simple but fun page@  The pictures have so much going on in them I wanted them to shine!  The striped paper in Bella was perfect to add a border on the layout and kind of stop the motion

it's a small world

I look and looked for a layout that would work well with my photos and this one was it…i wasn't very excited about that because of the circles that are generally where the international Mickey Heads are and I had only used 4 papers and didn't want plain circles across the top.  That is when I thought oh, I could make Mickey Heads that are like the flags of different countries.  Then the thought of the time it would take made me decide, maybe not.  I was able to find some online and resize them and print them as photos.  I did have to hand cut them out but that was way faster than hand making flags!

It is amazing how you can use bright colors with pictures that aren't that bright just by picking up one color from the photos! file this simple layout took me much longer than it should have I really love the way it turned out!  By the way this layout was from one of our How-to books that are awesome for helping you display your photos in a pleasing way!

Big Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain

These pages were inspired by a page on Pinterest (Big Thunder).  The sign on the second page was actually inspired by a photo we had from Disney that has a sign like that in it!
I used mainly card stock on this page with a little but of Dreamin' (retired) thrown in as photo mats!  The stamp was from convention a couple of years ago when we had it in Dallas, one of the perks of going is a stamp set exclusive to the convention!  The Cricut Cartridge I used was Old West!  I used several ropes connected together to get the meandering rope!  The base page is inked with the ink pad directly to the paper to distress it and make it look a little rough around the edges.
I used the brackets from Old West to make photo frame and used the inside as the photo mat!  The waves for Splash Mountain were cut using Artbooking as was the title, again out of the retired Dreamin' paper!

This was a really fun layout to try to replicate and also create!  A lot of outside the box thinking went into it!

Giving Back - Paying It Forward

I don't know what you want to call it but I have an acquaintance from our old church whose sister's baby boy, 19 months , has cancer.

I have been following the story on Facebook and his mom posted the other day about handing out Thank You notes.  I immediately thought, gosh I should make her some.

So I contacted my acquaintance and asked if she would like that and got her address.  The next day I was cleaning my craft room that has desperately needed it since Christmas and found my table! It was a good stopping point, so I pulled out 4 card workshops and two packs of scraps of paper from ages ago and made these!

These are from the Free to Be Me Workshop instructions and used Tinkering Paper and some Red Shimmer Trim!

These are from the Avonlea Card Workshop instructions and I used Magnifique and some bling my kids gave me for Mother's Day one year.

The papers are no longer available but are available in Studio J!

I did 25 cards in a really short amount of time and they were simple but much more impactful than store bought ones would be!

SO

How could you use one of your gifts to Pay It Forward or Give Back?  Leave a comment below and I will pick a name randomly next Monday to send some Scrappy Therapy love to!

The Everything ABC Blog Hop- Letter J

Welcome to the Everything ABC's Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter J.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever  the crafter has chosen as their J element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, you are at the beginning!

My J is Just Chillin'!  This is a revised version of the layout I did at The CTMH Album retreat last fall.

It was intended to be a winter layout and I changed the paper to Footloose (retired but available on Studio J) and turned it into a swimming layout…by the way the water was REALLY cold!

The snowflakes are cut from the Artbooking Cricut cartridge overlay that has snowflakes! I saved the overlay for a later purpose and just used the snowflakes and cut a few from the Icon and Border buttons too!  The Photo mats are cut from the same key on the same page!  Isn't that fun!  IT is almost all from the same page and key on on the Artbooking Cartridge!

I also used white baker's twine, Lagoon Houndstooth Washi tape, Aqua Dots and Teal Shimmer Trim as embellishments!  The chevron border is from the One-Way Borders stamp set and is stamped in Pear!
As you can see I stamped using the M sized Single Snowflake stamp to add a pattern by random stamping on the plain cardstock I used here! There is also a lot of 3-D Foam tape used on this layout to make things pop!
The H2O is so cute!  It said snow in the original layout!  The tiny letters are from the Crush Books Best Day Ever Assortment!  The Just Chillin' title below is from again the same page and key in the Artbooking Cricut cartridge book
It sure is a cute J!

Here are some more Album Retreat layouts!

Enjoy the rest of the blog hop!
