Last but not Least- Sara's Teacher gift!

Sara's teacher's cards were the most challenging for me to do because I had only a few scraps and the paper while beautiful is not very colorful!  I am really happy with the way they turned out though!  I started with this sketch and varied it as I ran out of paper! I also added a little bling to brighten it up a little!

Can you tell I like the Bohemian Alphabet for Monograms!?  Well, I do!

So 10 handmade cards in a handmade box!  The paper is retired Simple Pleasures and I used Kraft paper for the box.  I stamped the border around the lid with the Happy Journey (retired) stamp set and also the square in the center and I random stamped the base of the box!  It is very simple but elegant looking and I was very pleased because I went a little outside my comfort zone!

Lora's Teacher gift

This is a very old paper pack I had that had leftover Stickease with it so these were very quick and easy cards!  The monogram is with the Bohemian Alphabet!  Sorry for the icky pictures!  The last one is more true to color but I was too tired to try again!
I made 10 cards again and then the box!  I used our relatively new Kraft paper for the box since I really had only small scraps left of the paper pack!
I even used a Stickease border around the box top and on the band I used a journaling box and some larger flowers that were left!  Lora's teacher is retiring this year and is English so we are hoping she really enjoys these cards!  Lora loves them!

Layout Challenge #22- Horn Quartet

My husband plays French horn so of course he has lots of horns on his Christmas tree!  The kids were trying to play them.  They do make noise but the kids were funny and noise is more the word than music!!  I had to take a picture they were just too cute!  They were very proud to be like daddy too!

This is the Sonoma paper for the last time (for a while at least)!  I used the zip strips and cut out the words that best suited the pictures and the scalloped looking one is actually two put together!  The layout is from  Pinterest, Love it!  I did change it up a little!

Studio J Saturday- Calendar style

Every year I do calendars for my husband's family and my parents.  It is a lot of work and grew from doing just 4 to doing 8 and I still don't get one!  So last year I used Level one paper packs and it went much quicker but was still very time consuming!
Enter Studio J...I decided to figure out a way I could do the top of the calendar by splitting a two page layout between 2 calendars.

If you notice there are the same pictures on each page and both pages say January!  It will go in 2 different calendars and I only need to print 4 copies for all my calendars!

After I get them I only need to glue them on the calendar page and viola I am done!  Ok except for writing the dates and birthdays and anniversaries!  I have made that easier too by printing them on clear return address labels and sticking them on the correct date!

Why did I ever start doing this?

Gift for Ms. Jernigan, Joshua's teacher!

The handmade box for the cards!
 The cards!
Serendipity again but the look is very different from last time!

Joshua's teacher is getting married and I am not sure when so I didn't want to put a monogram on hers!  Lots of the flowers from the paper pack used!  Easy and quick!

Teacher Gift for Ms. Maurer

Ten cards and a handmade box for Micah's Kindergarten teacher!
The cards are predominately made from scrap papers!
I used the fabulous Bohemian Alphabet set to make the M monogram!

I even got crazy and stamped the envelopes!
The box is from the pattern I found on Splitcoast Stampers!
I added the band around it so it wouldn't come open in transport and handling by my 6 year old son!
I used the retired Serendipity promotional paper pack that also had the flowers in it!  I used Opaques for the center of the flower!  I found the card sketch here!

Layout Challenge Week #21

Are you sick of Sonoma yet!  I think i have one more layout and then on to December 2010 and different papers!  I found this layout on the 4x6 Sketch Blog, which I find really handy when I have pictures I can't trim much!  I altered it a little to suit my pictures but I really like the finished product!

One thing I like about the paper from CTMH is that it comes with a zip strip.  A zip strip means our paper no longer has the logo printed on the 12x12 paper but on a strip you cut off.  As a bonus you get a pattern on the opposite side of the zip strip.  The green patterned paper on either side of  the pictures is a zip strip!  I am still learning to use them!  But they are fabulous embellishments that are right there with your paper pack and coordinate perfectly!  The other thing I like about the zip strips is that it lists all the colors in the paper pack so you are never wondering and can find coordinating ink and paper easily!

I know you probably can't see it well but I continued the theme of Mocha Opaques for the dots on the i!  You can click on the picture to make it larger!

Studio J Saturday!

I don't often do a single 2 page layout in Studio J but I am trying to get caught up and this was a quick and easy page that will go in both my kid albums!

We went to the pool at the gym after I worked out (need to get back to that!) and the kids swam for about a half an hour!  They got cold and were wrapped up in towels much quicker than I expected!  As you will notice a I have a spunky one being a smartly pants on the left side!

I used an exclusive members only paper pack, Splash Zone for this layout!  It is very water and summer friendly!  I love how I was able to resize the Stickease (embellishments) to suit my needs and you never run out either! I used stick ease on the squares where it looks like little suns, the words and the water splashes and the title!

I am also able to journal wherever I want!  I journaled right on Sara's picture and added the date on the left side, all in addition the the normal journaling box!

Did you know there are 90 paper packs to choose from in Studio J?  And they all have coordinating embellishments and Stickease?  Imagine the choices!

Studio J is free to use until you love your layout so much that you want to print it!  You can play and find out how easy it is to use and how quick you can turn your digital pictures into memories with a story, not just a camera card or file on your computer!

I was happy to have this already done and able to use it for the current H2H challenge!

The Stocking are On! (Hung)

My sweet silly Micah found stockings that I bought long before i was married, that we no longer use and decided to put them on his feet!  Sometimes I think he will do anything for attention!  So of course I encouraged the silliness by taking pictures!

I still find it amazing that Sonoma worked so well for Christmas tree pictures but it did!  Sonoma is still around but will be gone soon!  Get yours now!  I also used the Mocha Opaques for the dot on the i and the exclamation point.  I lost them when cutting and sticking the letters so it was a great little addition!

Layout Challenge Week #20

This is a layout from the Reflections How-to book!  I used the retired Felicity paper, I am almost out of that paper and I will miss it! My kids loved their cousin and wanted a new baby for us too!  I told them the factory was closed and they were out of luck!

Sometimes I go for a very simple layout which suits my pictures and my need to get it done!  Over time I have learned that every picture doesn't have to be scrapbooked and every page does not need to be perfect and professional looking!  There is a new trend of clean and simple, I like that trend!?

What have you created this week!

Count Your Blessings

My kids and my nephew's kids get along so well and have a blast together!  It is such a blessing when we get to see them!  These pictures are of all 7 of them and getting everyone looking at the camera and smiling was impossible!

I used leftovers from the Family Canvas I did to mat (cut with the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge) each picture!  It was nice to find a use for these and not waste them!  The layout is done with Felicity paper which you will also see in my next post, yet it looks very different!  This was a fun promotional pack that had exquisite precut circles in them,  I used half of one for this layout!

I feel silly saving scraps sometimes but this layout was a fabulous use for some of them!  The patterned strip of paper was a thin scrap that I normally would throw away and the photo mats were all great uses of leftovers that were useful for me!  I am loving using up my older paper and making room for the new!

Layout Challenge Week #19

Not So Cool Cuts with Flip Flaps

I had a ton of pictures from my boys after Micah cut their hair.  We were waiting for the hairdresser to "fix" their haircuts.  I didn't want to dedicate 4 pages to this momentous event, so I pulled out the handy flip flaps and reduced it to 2 pages!

Above I used the flip flaps vertically!  Fun pictures of Joshua posing while we waited.
On the right page I used the 4x6 flip flaps horizontally!

I used minimal patterned (retired Fanfare) paper on this layout and really like the way it came out!

The Second Half of Jefferson, TX

The second full day we were in Jefferson we went to Caddo Lake State Park.  I felt like is was back in North Carolina, I have so missed the trees!
When we walked into the pond area, every critter took notice and was talking to each other, it was quite loud!  Chris suggested I use the retired Wings paper and I was skeptical but I love the way it turned out!  I did the pages while sitting in bed watching a movie back at the BnB!

We not only saw a lot of trees but a lot of bugs too.  Some were fun to look at and others were just downright pesky!  I tried to get a photo of a beautiful black and blue butterfly but couldn't stand still long enough to catch one because of the mosquitos.

When we changed elevation the mosquitos were gone because of the breeze blowing! We were vary thankful for the breeze.

On the Bayou, the critters were talkative again but nothing like on the pond.  It was very peaceful by the bayou!  We even recorded the sounds to share with our kids!

The page on the right was our BnB.  The breakfasts were wonderful and we really enjoyed our stay there!

To once again brag about Studio J, I finished these pages the night after we took them!  I did a few finishing touches with embellishments and journaling and sent them off to be printed about a week after we got back!  Can't wait to get them and make a small album of these pages!
