Welcome to the Everything ABC's Blog Hop!
For this hop we will be featuring the
letter O. This may be the name
of a paper, a stamp set or an
embellishment. Whatever the crafter has
chosen as their O element will be
featured in their post.
If you have just hopped onto my blog,
please start at the beginning at Traci Williams’ Blog – Paper Crafting 101.
If you came from Theodora of Celebrate Crafts then you're on the right track!
I was talking with a customer and
friend the other night and trying to pick her brain about an “o” topic and
opaque popped into my head! I am not
really sure my sample is the best example of opaque but it is what I have.
Which one of these cards above would you say is more opaque?
This card was stamped with regular dye based ink. Dye based inks soak into the paper and the color changes a little based on the color of paper you are stamping on. I stamped this sentiment with Outdoor Denim and it almost looks black.
This card was stamped with Pigment ink which gives you a more opaque look. It was also stamped with Outdoor Denim but a pigment based Outdoor Denim. Pigment inks are usually more vibrant and opaque because they are thicker and sit on top of the paper and don't soak in. The pigment inks are great for home decor too because they don't fade as fast as dye based inks do. The one minor drawback is that pigment inks take a little longer to dry and you need to use less force to ink up your stamp! A great way to clean your stamp after using pigment ink is to use our stamp scrubber!
Is one kind of ink better than another? It really depends on what you are using it for!
CTMH made a great video about it!
