Tuesday Tutorial- Sponge Savers!

Just really quick moneysaving tip today!
Our sponges are $1.25 so a great deal to start with! But I make my dollar stretch be this simple trick!

I use our Non-stick Microtip Scissors and cut the sponge in half!  I then cut that into as many pieces as I desire!  I usually get 8 triangles from each sponge!
I ink up my sponge with whatever ink I desire to distress in, which in this case is black!
I am trying to be sure the petals of this flower cut using the Artiste Cricut Cartridge from Yuletide Carol paper pop off the card!
As you can see it is pretty subtle and you can adjust your inking to your taste or the needs of the project!
Pretty awesome how the flower pops!
And here is my finished card!  I added a stamp from the Noel Holiday stamp (C1598) and the Gold Bling Gem from the Bling Gems Assortment Gold!

The Everything ABC Blog Hop - Letter O

Welcome to the Everything ABC's Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter O.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever  the crafter has chosen as their O element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, you are at the beginning!

Oh, My I have been busy soooo…my O is a real stretch!

Oh my that was Scary!  My family rode the Tower of Terror at Hollywood Studios!  It was a fun ride for some and terror inducing for others!  There was only one picture of it and I found this great page on Pinterest so I used it to inspire my page!
Like I said I was very behind on getting ready for this so this is not my typical photo with my table and Versamat behind my page but, it is a fun page with a a couple other O's that are the mats for my photO!

In case you don't know a Versamat is a great tool to have!  It is bigger 12x12 and has a grid on it that extends past your page to help you line things up straight across and the mat part is self healing so you can cut things on it too!!  It is squishy on the back side to stamp and get clearer images too!

So I do have one more thing to do which is add the journaling but I need to talk to two more of my kids about their experience with the ride before I do it!  My husband intentionally avoided going on it again even though Joshua said immediately wanted to go again!  My husband did get them a Fast Pass to ride again later when he left the park to go to the awesome Close to My Heart Awards Banquet with me!

Indiana Jones Epic Spectacular

This was a favorite show of my husband and son, Micah at Hollywood Studios!  The others went to The Great Movie Ride that Chris and Micah had decided was going to be lame.  Micah and Chris loved the show and didn't feel that they missed anything on the Great Movie Ride.
Last of the Sketches I did for my Big Picture class and it was #3!  I used the sketch twice and mirrored the pages!  I love the way this turned out!  The Paper Fundamentals that came out in the last Idea Book and I just love them!  They are clear embossed pattern on one side and a matching color pattern on the other side!  In this case, I used the colored side, so the back is solid with that some pattern embossed on it!  The can add a lot of impact or a subtle emphasis to your page!

And guess what!  Sneak peek!  We are getting them in all the colors we sell!  They are sold by color family and are fabulous!
I cut the title with the Old West Cartridge on the rope alphabet to add a bit of whimsy to the page!
What was your favorite new product in the Spring Summer CTMH Idea Book?

This is the companion page to the Goofy page I posted Monday!  It is also a sketch from the Big Picture Class I took!  Sketch Number 6 in fact!

The cute Pluto title is from the Mickey Font Cricut Cartridge!  It was just push a key and cut and I put Honey behind the white to make the name POP!  The pictures of Pluto at the top right were cut from a sheet of paper and matted!  Easiest and cheap embellishment but worked great for this page!

Again this was a simple layout but is very graphic in nature so it really emphasizes the picture not the art!  I love this and the fact that it was Fast and Easy!

Keep checking back!  There is some sneak peeks of new products coming soon!

This was a very fun page to do!  Simple with lots of visual impact!

Believe it or not the paper on the left is from the retired Believe Christmas paper, I just love using paper in unexpected ways!  This was from Sketch 5 from a Big Picture Class I took on using sketches differently!  The sketch was basically the same just with one larger photo not two!

Goofy was cut using the Mickey Cricut Cartridge!  I love the way it finished off the page with minimal embellishments, just the Goofy layered cut out from some embellishment pack my kids gave me for my birthday ages ago and a sticker strip with circles on it!

Sometimes simpler is better!

Biergarten at Epcot

The one park I went to with my family during convention was Epcot!  We ate dinner at the Biergarten in the German area!  It was great fun with a show and all you could eat! It was fun for all of us with the band and dancing!
I had a hard time whittling down the pictures for this one but the paper was an obvious choice because I bought Germany paper when I was in a scrapbooking store in the Chicago area last spring!  I also chose the Mickey head paper to indicate we were at Disney but in a subtle way!  The Honey card stock also accented both papers!  The red buttons are sparkly and from the Mini-Medley Accent Ruby Collection.
Over the last few years I have been collecting Disney embellishments and this was one that I hadn't found a use for yet!  It seemed perfect with the band!  I also used the Mickey head gems I had and blinged it up a bit!

Family photo at Epcot!

I had a lot of fun with this page!  It started with just the left page and finished it without the embellishments and it was just kind of blah.  I wanted black sparkle flourishes I thought I had in my stash, and couldn't find them!  I came across the Velvet Christmas rub ons (retired) and new minus the Christmasy ones they would be perfect!  I applied them and added some black sequins and glitter flourishes from the Mini Medley Accents Black Collection and it was done!  I love mixing the old stash with the new!
The right page was to coordinate paper wise and the strip of Mickey paper brought the two pages together!  I cut two Mickey heads, one black and one white!  To make the hat I just cut off the bottom of the black Mickey head and used the white part for journaling! I used Honey, Black and Indian Corn Blue for the cardstock!
My sweet  Joshua love the men that her saw craving both times!  He was just  entranced!  This man let him hold what he was carving and talked with him about it!  It was really neat to watch him!

The Everything ABC Blog Hop - Letter N

Welcome to the Everything ABC's Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter N.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever  the crafter has chosen as their N element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, you are at the beginning!

For my N, I chose nearly gone!  I meant to take a picture of my scraps before I started but I used almost all of the Timberline paper pack and I had just the dregs of it left plus a few extra card stock scraps in the bag.

When I get to this point with a paper pack I usually just stick it in a bin and forget about it.  When I find it I say to myself, gee I should make cards out of this!  Well…I never do.  So turning over a new leaf here, I pulled out the scraps and was determined to make cards rather than file it away to take up space!

I had miscut several Bamboo pieces all about the same size so I pulled out my Make It From The Heart, vol. 1 how-to book and found the card part and looked for a card that had approximately that size shape on it.  On page 44 pattern Number 24 had a 2.5 by 2.5 card stock that was the center of the card.

My scraps were slightly bigger so I trimmed them and then found a scrap of patterned paper that was 1.25 x 12 and trimmed it into 3 pieces to go across my card.  I had a pretty big piece of the soon to be retired  Twilight for the larger piece in the back.  3 cards exactly the same layout.

To show you how different the same pattern can look, I pulled out some stamps and went to work using the brand new yet to be released Happy Birds (C1600) and current stamps, Camper Crazy and Catch You Later.

I also used some of my stash of Brown and Tan Sparkles and Hemp (retired but check this out!) and Durable Studs (retired but check these out!)!  So I made some old things new and mixed some new with the old!  I just love the versatility of our products! I also love reducing the stash to make room for all the new products coming up in the New Annual Expressions Catalog out on August 1!
